Sterling silver bar style brooch celebrating two much loved garden flowers, pansies and their smaller cousins, violas.
About the brooch: The brooch contains three flower charms - a lilac and white pansy in the centre and two violas, or violets, either side. The pansy charm measures 10mm in diameter and each viola 8mm, a nod to the size difference of the flowers themselves.
Each charm is made using a scaled down photograph of the flower set under solid convex glass pieces which magnify the detail of these beautiful and much loved garden flowers.
Materials: 925 Sterling silver, glass.
Pansy and viola facts and symbolism: The name pansy is derived from the French word pensée meaning thought and now represents free-thinking, remembrance and consideration for others. This flower was also used in Victorian bouquets to send the message ‘thinking of you’ to a lover. Violas are said to symbolise humility and modesty. American pioneers thought that a handful of violets taken into the farmhouse in the spring ensured prosperity.
