Etched Branches
A new limited edition jewellery collection for Autumn 2020 - Etched Branches.
One for the tree lovers, these pieces are a little different from previous collections, still using original photography - but this time as the basis for etchings. I've used three photographs - one of a fir tree, one of twisted oak branches and one of a Loblolly pine tree in silhouette.
The photographs are transferred to thick 925 silver sheet and etched for several hours until the relief of the picture is created. The pieces are then polished, oxidised and re-polished to bring out the detail further.
Even though the starting point is a photograph, the process means that each piece is completely different, much like the trees themselves.
